Adolescent Goal Achieved

Those that know me can attest that I have and always will be a sports nut. Growing up I memorized every score and facet of statistical analysis possible. So you want to know where Ron Harper went to college or Mike Pagliarulo's birthday? No problem, Miami of Ohio and March 15th. Knowledge such as that filled and still fills my brain. If they ever have a game show that revolves around useless sports knowledge I would be the Ken Jennings of that show. So it should come as little or no surprise that I enjoyed participating and watching sports as much as I loved studying sports facts. A lifelong dream of mine as a kid was to go to each of the major three professional sporting events. Every kid can dream and should. Well thanks to some friends, dedication, favors and my parents I finally was able to achieve that goal and I did it by age 30. To make this dream of mine even better I was able to see my favorite teams in each of the championships of major american professional sports leagues. The only unfortunate part is that my teams have finished with a collective record of 1 and 2 in the three professional championships I attended. So thanks Mom and Dad for helping me complete this goal with a trip to South Florida for this year's Super Bowl. It was a great time and I will never forget it. Spring, where are you?

Bennett is over this winter weather. The sight of his winter coat sends him running and I have even noticed a little stir-crazy in him when we spend an entire day in our house.

The sweater is 30 years old...knit for Zach as an infant - and now Bennett wears it!

You've Got Mail

Yesterday was the lucky day...the day that SI's Swimsuit Issue was delivered to our mailbox. Holding Bennett in one arm, I reached outside...careful not to let my socks touch the snow, and reached with the other hand to grab a stack of magazines and envelopes. Having no idea what the stack included, Bennett was immediately grabing at all pieces, so I sat him and the mail on the floor and we started going through it. And then he found it............................

I just couldn't stop taking pictures - it was just too funny the way he flipped through and carried the magazine around.

I think Daddy was feeling left out upon seeing the photo series I captured - so for the second year in a row - this was the choice nighttime reading.

I believe, at this moment, they were reviewing the 2010 "rookie" models...

Super Bowl Eve

I thought I would share the contrasting views Zach and I have these days....

...this is Zach's view upon looking down - an official NFL/Super Bowl credential - hanging around his neck.

...this is my view as the snow (more than 6 inches in total) was just beginning to fall on Friday afternoon. I am so thankful for help from my neighbors and family - the (long) driveway is almost perfectly shoveled.

I am pretty sure Zach thinks he has died and gone to heaven - he is such a sports buff and to attend a Super Bowl game where your favorite team is competing...well, it just doesn't get much better - accept, of course, if the Colts win.

Here is our little sport...

Bennett will be channeling his best Joe Addai tomorrow. Go Horse!
